I decided to post this, after my dad suggested I do. I'm glad he likes it, since I do, too.

This is a fan book cover for John Dies at the End, or JDatE as it's known on the author's site Pointless Waste of Time, or PWOT. He has this thing with acronyms.

I made my own cover because I dislike the cover that Dave's new publisher, Permuted Press, is going with. That's all I'll say about that. [Edit 11.09 - New new cover with new publisher is amazing, if you haven't, you should check it out [link] ]

This was sketched about a month ago, and mostly finished up in Photoshop later that night. I brought it up recently and brought it to this point. To me, it's finished. And since it will never have the chance to be pressed against Dave's awesome story, this is as far as it will get.

This is loosely based off a scene in the book. I won't go into detail about that, but I will describe the objects here. The shadow person plays a large role in the book, and they just so happen to have yellow eyes. That's a needle at the bottom, which was used to inject the "soy sauce" that basically gave them a third eye. The red stuff just looked cool. The blue Tv-like rectangle in the background is, in fact, a Tv. The drops at the top could also be seen as more "soy sauce." They are a small reference to a fellow forum poster's work.
